CHA Bundang Medical Center became the first general hospital that opened in a newly-established city in 1995. From its inception, the hospital incorporated customer needs identified from a large-scale survey for residents in the community and offered a new patient-oriented hospital culture. Since then, CBMC has provided medical services that make it stand out from other hospitals, including providing patient care on Saturday on a larger scale, introducing the state-of-the-art medical equipment and opening special centers. Such endeavors were well recognized as it received the Presidential Award at the Korean National Quality Management Convention for the first time in the field of medicine in Korea. CBMC has conducted active researches on stem cell and genome that it contains with the aim of “realization of regenerative medicine based on stem cell and genome.” It has produced many research outcomes and grown into a leading hospital in the field of cytotherapy. Especially, it has the “Global Stem Cell Clinical Trials Center” which is the only organization across the globe that provides one-stop service from the production of stem cell therapeutics to clinical trials, procedure and hospitalization. Furthermore, it is equipped with GMP facilities in one space, which allows for more efficient stem cell therapy. Such competitiveness was recognized by the government, and as a result it was selected as one of the Korea Research-driven Hospitals for two consecutive times.

CHA Bundang Women's Medical Center (new building) opened inside CHA Bundang Medical Center in June 2006 in order to provide medical services specialized for women and infants. CHA Bundang Women’s Medical Center has been the first and largest hospital for women and infants in Korea, and established an unrivaled brand as a new concept of medical service for women, mothers and babies. In 2008, it was awarded the National Healthcare Design Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and in 2009 an award certificate from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, taking the lead in creating a new hospital culture.
