Braquiterapia
La braquiterapia, también llamada radioterapia interna, es un método de tratamiento del cáncer en el que se inyectan cápsulas con material radiactivo en el cuerpo. Este método de tratamiento reduce el efecto de la radiación en los tejidos y órganos circundantes, en contraste con la radiación externa, cuando no solo el tumor está expuesto a la radiación.La braquiterapia se lleva a cabo en el régimen de dosis altas o bajas, cuando los radioisótopos se administran temporal o continuamente (en este último caso, las sustancias radiactivas pierden su actividad ellos mismos). El tipo de tratamiento utilizado depende del tipo de cáncer y las características de cada paciente individual.
